Interview conducted by Michele Gwynn, examiner.com
Bruce Colero has photographed some of the hottest women on the planet from Penthouse Pets to Playboy Centerfolds. He specializes in a type of photography that no else has yet to perfect at the level in which he effortlessly creates; graphic erotic digital art. He abhors standard fashion photography and won’t mince words in telling you so. He admits he says f*** a little too often, but the words in between will blow your mind in the way his images scorch your retina. He’s a force of nature, a success story with a multi-million dollar health supplement business, and he’s hot. Digital art photography is his hobby and passion – one which has earned him international recognition and made him the “in-demand” professional for hot, artistic shoots for magazine covers and editorials. Now he has released his latest book, Sins of the Flesh, featuring his favorite themes, exotic models, and imagery that can’t be simply described with mere words, but must be experienced. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Bruce in the past and can attest to amazing vision, outstanding work ethic, and larger-than-life personality. In his own words:
Michele Gwynn: Bruce, what is the concept of Sins of the Flesh?:
Bruce Colero: There isn’t one particular concept for Sins of the Flesh, but rather a collection of erotic imagery – there are particular themes that I’m fond of, that I continuously revisit.
Michele Gwynn: How long you’ve been working on it?
Bruce Colero: I’ve been working on Sins for roughly two years. I’m contracted for a yearly calendar (Bruce Colero’s Sirens) and I try and come out with a new book every two years -ish.
Michele Gwynn: What’s the process you go through with creating each individual image?
Bruce Colero: The process changes for every image. Sometimes I come up with the idea prior to shooting the model and pose the model accordingly (and try variations of said pose). However, after the concept shoot is done, I’ll continue to shoot the model, different poses, etc. Sometimes what I get is even better than what I planned.
Michele Gwynn: Where can your fans purchase Sins of the Flesh and your other work?
Bruce Colero: All of my books can be purchased in various comic book stores, adult stores; virtually every internet book store carries all my books. So anyone worldwide has access to my books.
Just Google my name or the particular book you’re looking for and there you go – cake. My calendars are available in every calendar kiosk stores around the world. The next one comes out this June.
Michele Gwynn: Tell me about some of the models and the locations used — (favorites).
Bruce Colero: I’m now in the position where I’ve established myself and have attained a reputation for my artwork/photography – so I’m constantly approached by models from all over to pose for me.
My work goes beyond the standard photo as I take it far beyond than just the image. For my stylized images I shoot in my studio – that way I control the lighting and I can replicate it once I take it to the 3D programs that I use. So the shoot is never more than the model shot against a green screen or a black/white backdrop. Everything (clothing, props, backgrounds, and environment) is done by me after the fact.
Michele Gwynn: What are your previous works (books and calendars)?
Bruce Colero: Sins of the Flesh is my 5th book (including a compilation book put out by Hustler) – so in order of release.
-Heavenly Bodies
– Skin Deep
– Naked Desire
– The Art of Bruce Colero (Hustler compilation)
– Sins of the Flesh
– Bruce Colero’s Sirens is my first of a series of calendars – the first edition comes out June 2013
Michele Gwynn: Name some TV, Internet, and print interviews regarding any of your work and specifically Sins of the Flesh.
